Let’s talk romance, AI and ChatGPT

Dear Reader,

The world is changing faster than some of us can keep up with. I still feel like I’m in a sci-fi movie sometimes when I watch my robot vacuum and mop, or when I look at some of the new fashion creations (I wish someone would invent this quick makeup trick!).

AI (Artificial Intelligence) has truly made an impressive breakthrough with its famous ChatGPT program that supposedly can do amazing things, from writing computer code to school papers or even writing books. Some authors are prompt into embracing this technology, and have even released books on how to write a book in a few days or weeks using AI tools like ChatGPT or Sudowrite.

As a writer of romance, I’m not sure how I feel about this. There are endless debates about whether it’s ethical or not, whether the writing of those who use it will become boring, redundant and soulless, and even fear of plagiarism, since AI uses existing works to learn. Not to mention that we don’t have clear laws yet about content produced using AI, since it’s all so new still.

I would REALLY love having a dialogue with you about this. I created a survey that you can fill out and tell me how YOU feel about books written using Artificial Intelligence. You can also comment on this post and tell me what you think about authors using AI. And finally, you can join the debate on my Facebook page.

I encourage you to comment and share this post with your friends, because it’s the best way to create a dialogue so all of our voices are heard. It’s your time to make a difference in what you want to read from myself and other authors.

On a different note, I apologize for not posting anything in over a month, but my husband and I got Covid for the first time and it knocked us on our butts for more than a couple of weeks. We are better now, but not yet 100% back.

However, I do have some nice things to share!

Happy News Corner

I’ll do something different here today, and instead of sharing happy news from around the world, I will be sharing some of my news:

On April 17th my hubby and I celebrated seventeen years of marriage. ❤️💍

In April 2013 I have received my first ever publishing contract, so this year I am celebrating a decade as a published author.

I’ve updated and re-edited Celebrity. Check out the new version and tell me what you think!

Until next time, stay safe!

Fondly,

Melinda
